Why Autumn is the best time to ask, what IF…

What would you do if money and time was not an issue and what you can actually do now!

Albert Camus was a philosopher and writer born to a poor family in Algeria, North Africa. He was an existentialist philosopher meaning that he was very different from others in the way of thinking. Camus won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957 and was the second-youngest (44 years old) to receive that, but unfortunately died in a car accident just over two years later. What if Camus lived longer? What IF is a powerful question to ask ourselves, especially now.

In Nature, Autumn is the time of alchemy, harvest and change. In our lives, it’s the perfect time of year to gather (harvest) the abundance of summer, the past year of experiences, new connections and learning. Fruits and leaves have reached their peak and start to fall and become nutrients for the next year’s growth. It’s a natural process falling energies, retreating within, letting go and creating potential for the next cycle. I believe if we are in tune with this, we can align with this energy of the season and live our potential at a higher level. Here are questions to guide you.

What if…?

More than a question, this thought begins the process of change to help us define what is most important in your life. It prompts us to become more self-aware, to separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’ on a physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual level. ‘What if’ encourages a growth mindset, quiet reflection and possibility. Begin asking ourselves more of these questions during our selfcare routines: getting outside for walks, eating more seasonal fruits and vegetables and make sleeping and resting more of a priority!

 Am I…?

Am I happy? Am I living my fullest? Am I grateful? If you can answer these honestly to yourself, only then can you decide what you are willing to do about it. Autumn is the season where we look inwards as well as outwards and decide on what doesn’t serve us any longer. Remember those business contacts and opportunities you came across earlier this spring? Many did not follow though, ‘seeds’ of your ideas did not grow, perhaps it wasn’t the right timing.

This is the season to take in all you’ve gathered and let go of the things that haven’t helped you move forward. You can’t move forward holding on to dysfunctional relationships, thoughts, habits and behaviors that answer this question with a ‘no’! It’s time to prune! Am I letting go of negative things that don’t serve my higher purpose? Start now!

 How do…?

How do I begin you might ask? Here are some quick simple (not easy) steps in addition to above.

 

  1. Always, always, always prioritize your selfcare, health and especially sleep. If you’re not sure how to do that in a way that works for YOU, let’s talk!

 

  1. Acknowledge your boundaries. With clear boundaries, you will get more clarity about WHAT you want if nothing could stop you and WHO you truly are. Need help getting clear on YOUR boundaries, let’s talk!

 

  1. Letting go can be a difficult process. It’s like an ‘inner alchemy’ of purification and transformation. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and the 5 elements concept, the lungs and intestines are the organs associated with Autumn so breathe deeply often and let go that shit! Everyone needs help here, let’s talk!

P.S. This is my example of what I’m letting go of. This year has been a challenge balancing caregiving and business as some may know of me. This has been sometimes painful but transformation is a constant process of growth!

The positive intention has led us to starting new projects which means I will now ‘let go’ of writing GoodNews weekly and instead will be published biweekly (fortnightly for my UK mates) so I can start writing a book, launch an online course and lead our first ‘sleep retreat’ in 2020.
